I still have to reinstall Blokada regularly, currently about once a day, mainly in the morning.
I just got the idea to do the adblock test again. Now the blocking is at 97%.
This is currently the case on all kinds of settings:
before reinstalling (due to apps slipping through)
after reinstalling
DNS Cloudflare or Google
WiFi network: prefer network DNS enabled and disabled
I have no idea what could have changed on the phone or the settings that could cause that the blocking is now 97% instead of the earlier test result of 3%.
Well, it seems like my assumption about your wi-fi network being restricted, since the only think that has changed from the latest test is changing your DNS settings to āPrefer Network DNSā
Correct me if Iām wrong but isnāt the original issue is seing ads and getting a low adblocking score?
Since youāre not using Blokada 6, simply uninstalling Blokada 5 from your device is sufficient, you can also delete the VPN profile from your VPN settings (if it remains there after deleting Blokada 5).
No traces of Blokada 5 are left once you uninstall it.
First of all thanka a lot for your continuous support, proposing solution attemps, and trying to make me a happy Blokada user again.
My problem is that after a while (1 or 2 or 3 or 4 times within 24 hours) Blokada stops blocking ads.
The remedy Iām using currently is de-installing it and the re-install it.
During diagnosing the situation I reported (following your proposal) a low (3%) adblocking score, independent on whether the app was just re-installed (and hence no ads were let through) or after I observed that ads were not blocked anymore.
I only want Blokada to reliably block ads, I am finally not interest in a (adblock) test result.
Unfortunately I can see after a reinstall that several blocklists are selected and I see a long list of exceptions. That means that there are still traces of Blokada on my phone after a de-install. I would not know any other explanation why I consistently see those selected blocklists and the long list of exceptions. By seeing this data I do not consider a re-install as virgin.
My assumption is that there some setting, loophole, bug, whatever in the traces of the previous installation which is exploited by ads makers (like perhaps outbrain) that renders Blokade useless after a while.
This assumption is the reason for starting this thread with the question: How to completely / fully de-install Blokada 5?
