VPN and Microsoft Account

Title: Blokada 5 and Microsoft detecting hacked usage overseas

  1. Where did you download Blokada from? The blokada website
  2. Which device do you use? Do you use a custom ROM? Do you know which OS version you are using? Samsung S10 Plus
  3. Please explain the issue as detailed as possible. Also include patterns you observed (like ‘it only happens on wifi’). The more information the better. I started regularly getting reports from Microsoft that they thought my account login details had been hacked due to the account being accessed from multiple countries across Europe (I am in New Zealand) and even after I replaced the password the attempts kept coming. I don’t use any VPN on my computer and my only thing that could have a VPN on my phone is blokada 5. I switched off blokada 5, and the attempt reports stopped coming in. Would using Blokada make my location of connection appear at random locations around the world? Am I likely to have that issue again if I start using it again? Reverting back to having ads sucks…
  4. Since when are you facing this issue? It was about a month ago
  5. Did you already try to solve the issue somehow? If so: please state what you did. Turned off Blokada, but I’d like it back on if I can

Hi, Blokada 5’s free version uses a local VPN on your device only to block ads and trackers, it does not mask your real IP address or change your apparent location. So, using Blokada 5 alone shouldn’t cause your Microsoft account logins to appear from other countries. You can check this yourself by turning on Blokada and using a website to check your IP, such as https://whatismyipaddress.com/

You could try switching to the latest Blokada 6. Unlike Blokada 5, it doesn’t rely on a local VPN connection, but instead uses Android’s built‑in Private DNS feature for ad blocking. This approach is more stable and causes no conflicts with system VPN functions.
