I sometimes connect to Private VPN on my Android Tablet S6. Obviously Blokada disconnects automatically. When I disconnect from Private VPN, is the Blokada app supposed to reconnect automatically?

Did you set Blokada as Always-on-VPN?
it is not expected that Blokada turns itself on again. In v5 there will be the option to pause Blokada for a specific time.
You also could try to maybe use Tasker or a similar app to automate the behavior you wish. Here is a Guide which might help you for Tasker:
