Blokada Family Should Support Blokada 6 Premium Features for Parents

I’ve been using Blokada 6 for a long time and really like the advanced filtering and VPN features. Recently I started using Blokada Family for parental controls, and the Family setup is great overall.

However, using Blokada Family currently forces me to stop using many premium Blokada 6 features, especially advanced filtering and VPN functionality.

The biggest issue is that it feels like I need two separate subscriptions:

  • One for my personal Blokada 6 setup

  • Another for Blokada Family for my kids

I understand that allowing every family member to use VPN and advanced premium features might not be practical from a business or product perspective.

But maybe there could be a better middle ground.

For example:

  • Keep Family Sharing and parental controls as they are

  • Allow the main admin/parent account to keep Blokada 6 premium features like VPN and advanced filtering

  • Other family accounts remain standard parental-control accounts

This would make the ecosystem much more convenient for existing Blokada users without requiring completely separate setups or subscriptions.

Hello and thank you for the feedback, this is actually very aligned with discussions we’ve had internally.

Originally, Blokada 6 and Blokada Family were designed with somewhat different target users and use cases in mind, which is why the separation between subscriptions and feature sets exists today. That said, we do agree that a more unified experience would make a lot of sense, especially for existing Blokada 6 users who later want parental controls without losing their own premium setup.

Unfortunately, merging these ecosystems properly requires a fairly large amount of architectural and product work, so at the moment we can’t promise any timeline for it.

Still, feedback like yours is very valuable because it helps us better distinguish between real user needs and isolated edge cases when deciding what to prioritize in the future.
