on IOS latest version of both blokada and iOS when I start the Adblock it doesn’t show the vpn icon at the top. Does the same thing after turning off on/low power mode.

This is the expected behavior for Libre. You will only see a VPN status while using Blokada Plus

This is correct. If you went into settings, you will notice that it says VPN but it is not configurable. iOS never allows configuration to VPNs if they aren’t VPNs at all, so iOS recognises the Blokada connection as a DNS connection, thus meaning that showing the VPN icon at the top is unneeded.
