Can't connect using your VPN

Hi

Many websites detects that I am using a VPN. They say the website is under maintenance or wtv, but when I desactivate it, everything is fine. Is there something you guys are working on to fix this?

I also couldn’t connect to this forum… I had to disable it, and re enable it once on it. I’m going to need a concrete answer for this. I’m paying for this VPN and I can’t connect to YOUR website…

I’m on Windows 10, using the VPN through Wireguard

Hi, sorry for the inconvenience. When configuring Wireguard, what server location did you choose? Does this problem occur across different locations and different browsers?

Until we find a solution to this problem you can try using an alternate DNS provider (e.g. Cloudflare or Google) while keeping Blokada Plus connected - you’ll lose Blokada’s DNS filtering system-wide, but can still use Blokada DNS over HTTPS (DoH) inside your browser to keep filtering active there.

If you’d like help setting up DoH, let me know which browser you’re using, and I can guide you through it. You can find the DoH configuration under Blokada Cloud → Setup on app.blokada.org.

The location is Montreal, and I don’t want to change it (and shouldn’t have to…). It’s also my real location.

I haven’t tried this forum with a different browser. It worked now without disconnecting it… Another example would be that I get access blocked for ‘‘onionmail.org’’ with my to go browser: Brave. But when I change browser, I have no issue.

I can give this DoH a try. I can set it up myself, but I don’t understand how it works. Would my Brave internet traffic go through Blokada DNS and then again through Cloudflare or Google? Or it bypasses it? If it bypasses it, why would the result be different? If it doesn’t, it will slow down my speed?

I would rather something that works overall…

And for the first question? I can’t connect to many websites because of the VPN. I can’t play LoL using it. They detect it. Is there something to do about it, or it’s the inevitable rise of security (/spying)?

Sorry, I didn’t mean to change the server location forever, I just wanted you to try another one for now so I could rule out the fault of this one particular location.

Perhaps you already have DoH settings changed in Brave?

When you change your DNS provider in Wireguard, all traffic from that device will pass through the provider’s DNS servers, but when you additionally change the DoH settings in your browser, all browser traffic will pass through our DNS server (bypassing the DNS provider you selected during Wireguard setup), so you will get our filtering here. No matter what you choose, it shouldn’t affect your connection speed.

Regarding VPN connection detection, could you provide some examples of websites you’re having this problem with? The first thing you can check is changing the location you’re connected to.
