Can we have a firewall feature in the app for ios and Android, that can use the VPN service to set a white and black list of apps that can get access to the internet. Or to monitor the network and ask to allow or deny the access from any app. This is done by other apps like netgaurd and noroot firewall but they don’t have adblocking nor do they have VPN. And you can’t run more than one VPN at a time, so if blockada has this it would be the app that gives all the privacy features. Thank you ---

At the moment a firewall is out of the question due to lack of developers, as firewall implementation requires a lot of work. You can load any Energized or Host-based list off GitHub into NetGuard if you want both a firewall & an adblocker. ---

IMO having too many features with a security app can cause problems, conflicts and information overload for the user. K - Keep I - It S - Simple S - Stupid. 😉 ---

Hi there, just trying out Blokada 5.15 on an Android 9 device, coming from “No Root Firewall”, which I have been using a long time now. This app generally works well but it has its quirks and hasn’t been updated for many years, so it seems to be abandoned by the author (it’s not open source anyway). One feature of above mentioned firewall app was to block outgoing communication for certain apps completely. There are apps who work locally and thus have no need to communicate with internet servers - each communication attempt of these apps can be considered as tracking or ad fetching. Is Blokada able to “blackist” an app this way? It’s possible to whitelist an app, so Blokada leaves all communication pass, but is there a “no-pass” list as well? (I haven’t found this possibility in the settings, but I may have missed/misunderstood something…) Thank you! ---

Hm… "No Root Firewall” uses a private VPN as well and it _does_ blocking based on IP addresses/address ranges or DNS names (with some weaknesses though as it seems to reverse-lookup the IP address to an arbitrary DNS name, leaving the user to guess what’s really behind a “_.amazonaws.com" or "_.cloudflare.com” name, so it’s sometimes difficult to tell if a certain IP/DNS name belongs to a tracking/ad server or not. This is one of the main reasons I want to get rid of it.) On the quest for the ultimate Android privacy solution without having to root the device this would be a big step forward if Blokada supported some kind of an app blacklist - the one VPN “slot” is occupied anyway. ---
